CONSTRUCT. BUILD. SHAPE. DESIGN. CREATE. You can do all of this and more with BAM. BAM Construction is recruiting a Sustainability Advisor to join the Midlands Region. This is a maternity cover contract for 9-12 month and is a stand-alone role based within the Midlands region, working closely with the central head office Sustainability team. This key position is critical in supporting the company's Sustainability aims and objectives at Regional level and provides the link between the Sustainability Team in the centre and the operational unit within the Midlands region. A large part of the role is supporting the 10 to 15 active projects within the region, maintaining environmental compliance at the same time as gathering and promoting industry best practice. About the role • Provide professional sustainability advice to the region and keep up to date with current legislation. • Work with the central teams to inform the on-going development of the strategy and its implementation. • Undertake regular site visits to ensure environmental compliance and best practice on our projects and support teams in reporting their environmental performance on BAM's online reporting system • Having a good knowledge of BREEAM and be able to support project teams in understanding project requirements and achieving their targeted credits • Promote good practice and feedback good examples to the central team. • Support the region in winning new business in particularly in prequals/tenders and interviews. • Support the project teams in establishing Environmental Management and Resource Management Plans. • Keep regional and site management staff up-to-date with changes to environmental legislation and BAM procedures. • Carry out audits on waste disposal companies used in the region. • Carry out office environmental and sustainability training • • Report to the regional Management Team on a monthly basis to feedback site environmental and sustainability performance and progress. • • Ensure subcontractors are aware of their environmental and sustainability duty when working for BAM, to ensure they comply with our procedures. • Report on environmental and sustainability framework KPI as required by project conditions • Support project teams with Considerate Constructor Scheme visits • Support project teams in discharging their environmental and sustainability related planning conditions • Support project teams in identifying and arranging more effective resource management options • Support projects which are being audited (both internal and external environmental audits) Who are we looking for? • Educated to degree standard in a relevant subject. • Ideally working towards a professional qualification. • Should have experience of and/or sufficient knowledge of environment sustainability in a business setting and environmental management systems • Should have a passion for and commitment to environmental sustainability issues and ideally with a specific focus on construction • Fluency in written and oral communication What do we offer?
