CONSTRUCT. BUILD. SHAPE. DESIGN. CREATE. You can do all of this and more with BAM BAM Construction is recruiting a Sustainability Advisor, in London. Working within the London region, this position will work closely with the central head office Sustainability team. This key position is critical in supporting our Sustainability strategy and objectives at Regional level and provides the link between the Sustainability Team in the centre and the operational unit within the London region. The role has scope for informing and contributing to wider sustainability strategy within BAM. About the role • Provide professional sustainability advice to the region and keep up to date with current legislation. • Work with the central teams to inform the on-going development of the strategy and its implementation. • Undertake monthly site visits to ensure environmental compliance and best practice on our projects and support teams in reporting their environmental performance on BAM’s online reporting system. • Promote good practice and feedback good examples regional and central teams. • Support the region in winning new business, through contributing to prequals/tenders and interviews. • Support pre-construction teams with environmental documentation and embedding sustainability best practices / solutions and making proposals to clients. • Keep regional and site management staff up-to-date with changes to environmental legislation and BAM procedures. • Carry out audits on waste disposal companies used in the region. • Carry out office environmental and sustainability training. • Report to the regional Management Team on a monthly basis to feedback site environmental and sustainability performance against KPIs and progress. • Support & monitor embodied carbon and circular economy requirements. • Ensure subcontractors are aware of their environmental and sustainability responsibilities when working for BAM, to ensure they comply with our procedures. • Engage with supply chain and relevant roles within the region to identify opportunities for sustainability improvement / best practice within the supply chain. • Actively engage with the Supply Chain Sustainability School. BAM is a partner member. This will include attending relevant supplier days, involvement in relevant special interest groups, promoting schools resources to our supply chain etc… • Report on environmental and sustainability framework KPI as required by project conditions. • Support project teams with Considerate Constructor Scheme visits. • Support project teams in discharging their environmental and sustainability related planning conditions. • Support project teams in identifying and arranging more effective resource management options. • Support projects which are being audited (both internal and external environmental audits). • Having a good knowledge of BREEAM and supporting project teams in achieving their targeted credits. Who are we looking for? The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate: • Educated to degree standard in a relevant subject. • Associate or Practitioner member of IEMA • BRE site sustainability manager qualification preferable • CSCS card • Relevant construction experience preferable • Should have experience of and/or sufficient knowledge of environment sustainability in a business setting and environmental management systems. Ideally some knowledge of or experience with: - Life cycle assessment / embodied carbon (standards, issues, solutions etc…) Building performance & POE Energy and waste in the context of buildings Responsible / ethical sourcing Basic understanding of circular economy • Should have a passion for and commitment to environmental sustainability issues • Fluency in written and oral communication What do we offer?
