Lecturer in Computing - Permanent - Part Time - 18 hours per week – Hertford Regional College – Broxbourne and Ware Campuses
Our Computing team is looking for a dynamic person with a passion for Programming and sharing industry experience and knowledge with our learners. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic individual who has the commitment and drive to take our current pathways of System Support and Networking and Games Development offerings forward. You might have recently graduated in Computing, or have experience in the world of programming in the games development industry, but most importantly feel you want to make a difference to the lives of the young people of today. You must have good organisational skills, a team player, and work well under pressure.
Hertford Regional College is a vibrant, dynamic further education college with over 6,000 students across two campuses, with ambitious growth and development targets. Computing has an average of 200 16-19 year old learners a year on its level 1, 2 and 3 programmes, and is looking to grow a level 4 pathway in Computer Science.
This exciting new role involves planning, preparing and delivering high quality, engaging and informative learning to our range of learners who are considering a career in the computing industry, and the right person will also have the mentoring skills to support them to achieve their potential. Ideally, we are looking for someone with gaming or software development industry knowledge and experience, although we would consider an inspirational and eager graduate who we would mentor and train on the job. Particular skillsets we are looking for include any or all of the following:
- Programming - c++, Assembly, Python
- Event Driven programming
- Object Orientated
- Databases would be an advantage
- A teaching qualification is desirable, however, if you do not have this then full training can be given. It is more important that you have the drive, passion and enthusiasm to make a difference to our learners.

Hours: 18 hours per week, Monday to Friday;
Salary: Full time equivalent - £25,910 - £33,030 per annum dependent upon qualifications and experience. (Actual Salary £12,955 - £16,515 p.a.)
Annual Leave: 42 days plus bank and public holidays pro rata per annum
