Based in our friendly and supportive office in Norwich, this is an exciting opportunity to work within our Asset Management business, where we develop the K2 solution which is a functionality rich Asset, Facilities and Estates Management solution which is used in the Local Government, Higher Education, NHS and Charity sectors. The K2 eco system comprises of a desktop application, a responsive MVC customer portal and windows and Android mobile applications.
You will contribute to the software development process with your ultimate goal being to write top quality code whilst also ensuring that best practice solutions and approaches are employed.
What does the role involve?
Using the skills you have already gained in a commercial software development environment, you will be involved in all stages of the SDLC including:
- Translating user requirements into Agile user stories and then into appropriate design, architecture and technical output
- Reviewing test plans to ensure adequate coverage
- Providing impact analysis of new features/defect fixes
- Participating in code quality activities
- Identifying root causes of defects and spotting trends and patterns
What can I bring to the role?
First and foremost, you will have a passion for writing high quality code. This will go hand in hand with a strong academic or vocational background and an aptitude for solving problems in an analytical and creative way. Experience in an Agile environment is handy but not essential as we can get you up to speed. Our team in Norwich will support and mentor you whilst your skills, knowledge and experience develop.
You will have strong verbal and written communication and relationship building skills and a knack for clearly and effectively explaining things in a way that is easily understood by others.
We see this role as being ideal for either a graduate (with commercial work placement experience) or a junior developer who has already started their software development career and is looking for an opportunity to develop their existing skills and learn new ones.
Familiarity with development languages and recognised database design concepts is also needed.
Finally, you will be good at planning and prioritising workload whilst displaying meticulous attention to detail and have the ability to work in a time pressured and deadline driven environment.
