About IT

The IT Department is responsible for providing technology and support to enable fee earners and business services employees to operate efficiently both internally and with their clients. The IT department is comprised of two functions, Customer Services and Technology Services. These two functions work closely together with the shared goal of delivering strategic business value through the application of technology. IT operates as a global team with regional presence in most of our offices. Our centralised IT infrastructure is maintained and managed by Technology Services and Customer Services provides all business facing support and services.

Qualifications

The Role

We are seeking an Application Developer to join Freshfields at our new Global Centre (Europe) in Manchester. Working in a “DevOps like” operating model, engineers operate, maintain and constantly improve the firm’s applications within their domain.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with business and technology teams to develop robust and scalable solutions with .NET technology stack including C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server.
Working closely with Business Analysts and Project Managers to obtain technical understanding of requirements to ensure applications are delivered accurately as planned.
Identifying potential risks with projects in early design stages in order to mitigate against any potential risks and impacts to wider range of applications in the firm.
Providing knowledge transfer technical support to delivered software to team members.
Producing robust and reusable code following best coding standards and practices.
Peer reviewing code to ensure the code meets quality control.

Key Requirements

Extensive knowledge of .NET framework using C#, ASP.NET and .NET core, SQL and front-end technologies including Angular.
Extensive knowledge of LINQ and Entity Framework.
Strong background in XML related technologies including XSLT and XPath.
Strong background in Visual Studio, Windows Server, SQL Server and SSRS.
Knowledge of design patterns and their implementations.
Experience of deploying applications using Atlassian Bamboo and Azure.
Exposure to Atlassian application suite including Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket.
