Hobdens are a family run Managing Agent based in Littlehampton, West Sussex. Formed in 1946, Hobdens have been located in the town ever since and moved into new offices in Beach Road in 2008.
They cover the whole of the West Sussex area and beyond, with focus on the coastal area between Portsmouth and Brighton. They have experience in handling all shapes and sizes of leasehold development, from converted properties to purpose built blocks and also specialise in the management of private estates, which often have a mix of leasehold and freehold property.
Their Clients vary from Resident Management Companies, Right to Manage Companies, investor freeholders to developers. Hobdens also have expertise in managing retirement housing, and manage a number of such developments in the locality.
Because they only manage properties in their local area, they can offer a personal service to Clients and pride themselves on this. Everything they manage is within an hour’s drive from the office so we they can quickly be on site in the event of a problem and are able to inspect properties regularly.
About the role
Due to an increasing workload, they are currently looking for a Building Surveyor (at APC/intermediate level) in their Littlehampton office who will provide technical support to our senior surveyor and will be responsible for carrying out surveys, inspections, schedules, reports, contract administration etc. throughout West Sussex and surrounding areas.
Working as part of our Building Surveying team on a range of projects, this role provides an exciting opportunity to develop within a small team of surveyors and property managers.
Who are they are looking for?
This role represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Building Surveyor to work within an expanding business and who has experience within a consultancy and is working towards their APC, or someone who has not yet had the chance to start their APC but has sufficient experience within a consultancy You will be responsible for your own projects and reporting to the Senior Surveyor and Director with opportunity for progression.
They are looking to expand their team with a dynamic, enthusiastic, responsible and practical person.
Ideally you will have:
• Min. 2 year postgraduate experience of building maintenance work, refurbishment and alterations of existing buildings
• Knowledge of building principles, report writing, defect diagnosis and specification writing
• A good understanding of H&S and construction legislation, including CDM 2015.
• Excellent communication (including report writing) and interpersonal skills
• Relevant HND/degree level qualification (accredited by RICS or CIOB)
• Full UK driving licence
